    India’s exports to US dip 1.21% in June, imports rise 33.86%

    New Delhi: India’s exports to the US dipped 1.21 per cent to USD 8.17 billion in June, while imports grew 33.86 per cent year-on-year to USD 5.5 billion, according to government data.

    In June 2025, India’s exports to the US stood at USD 8.27 billion, while imports were reported at USD 4.11 billion.

    During April-June 2026-27, the country’s merchandise exports declined marginally by 0.06 per cent to USD 25.46 billion, while imports increased 23.82 per cent to USD 16.65 billion.

    India and the US are negotiating a trade pact. The US has imposed an additional 10 per cent temporary tariffs for 150 days from February 24.

    According to the data, the country’s outbound shipments to China surged 31.49 per cent in June to USD 1.8 billion, while imports from the neighbouring country rose 40.26 per cent to USD 13.34 billion. The trade deficit stood at USD 11.54 billion.

    During April-June 2026-27, the country’s merchandise exports to China rose 27.54 per cent to USD 5.6 billion, while imports jumped 27.94 per cent to USD 38.04 billion.Similarly, exports to Singapore grew 48.91 per cent year-on-year during the last month to USD 1.44 billion. During the first quarter of this fiscal year, exports jumped 101.16 per cent to USD 6.51 billion.

    India has also recorded positive exports growth to the UAE, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, South Africa, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Australia, Malaysia, Sri lanka, Italy, and Vietnam during the reporting period.

    However, exports to Saudi Arabia and France registered a decline in June.

    On the other hand, imports from Russia, the UAE, Korea, Singapore, Japan, Germany, Oman, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Brazil, and Nigeria increased.

    Imports in June from Oman, Taiwan, Brazil and Nigeria surged 135.57 per cent to USD 1.38 billion, 135 per cent to USD 1.5 billion, 162.3 per cent to USD 1.15 billion, and 301.91 per cent to USD 996.40 million.

    India’s imports from Nigeria includes fertiliser, edible fruits and nuts.
