Gyori ETO host Vikingur Reykjavik in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round at the Stadion ETO in Gyor, Hungary, on Tuesday. The first leg last week ended 1-0 in favor of the Icelandic side.
Vikingur’s Danish striker Nikolaj Hansen scored the all-important goal in the 92nd minute of the match at Vikingsvollur last Tuesday to allow the side from Iceland a 1-0 aggregate lead going into the second leg.
Thanks for the submission!
Gyori ETO won the Hungarian OTP Bank Liga last season with 69 points from 33 games, pipping rivals Ferencvaros to the title by a single point.
The league title earned them their spot in these qualifiers, and they are currently in preseason mode, as the new Hungarian top-flight campaign is yet to commence.
Their most recent match before these qualifiers was a friendly with Vojvodina on 24 June, which Gyor won 2-1.
Coach Efrain Juarez will motivate his side to leverage their home advantage to turn the qualifying tie around and secure a win against Vikingur.
Meanwhile, Vikingur Reykjavik are topping the Besta deild karla with 40 points after 14 matches, dominating the Icelandic top flight with 13 wins and not a single loss yet this season.
They are 11 points ahead of second-placed KR Reykjavik. Vikingur’s most recent match before the Champions League qualifier was a 3-2 top-flight home win against KA Akureyri on 2 July.
The winner of this two-legged first qualifying round will advance to the next round, while the team that loses will drop into the second round of UEFA Conference League qualifying.

Gyori ETO vs Vikingur Reykjavik prediction
Gyori will need to be aggressive at home to try and overturn the one-goal deficit, and they are likely to be direct and press high up the pitch. Meanwhile, Vikingur are expected to remain defensively compact and aim to exploit space on the counterattack.
