A top champion is now set to make his return to AEW after a short hiatus. He was out of action due to visa issues, but now everything has been settled.

The star is none other than AEW National Champion Mark Davis. He has been out of action since early June. According to Tony Khan on the Forbidden Door media call, Davis was dealing with visa issues. Hence, it was difficult for him to get back to the United States of America. However, all those issues seem to have been resolved as he is set to return on Collision.

This week on Dynamite, Speedball Mike Bailey laid down a challenge for Mark Davis. In a backstage promo, Bailey addressed his rivalry with The Don Callis Family. He said he would like to take something from the faction, and that would be the National Championship. So, Bailey and Davis will now collide in a title match on this week’s episode of Collision.

Mark Davis’ last match in AEW was against Will Ospreay in an Owen Hart Cup 2026 semi-final match on the June 3 episode of Dynamite. With that said, it will be interesting to see how things will unfold for Davis from here on.

Will Ospreay says Mark Davis could be a world champion in AEW

Will Ospreay and Mark Davis have been fierce rivals in the world of professional wrestling. They have had some extremely violent encounters in the ring over the past few months. However, their in-ring animosity aside, The Aerial Assassin heaped praise on Davis in one of his recent interviews.

Speaking with Baby Huey on 107.7 The Bone, Ospreay said that Mark Davis has the potential to be a breakout star in All Elite Wrestling. He highlighted how AEW has not done well by its heavyweight division. However, Davis could become a world champion if things are done right.

“I find myself having like really good matches with heavyweight guys. I don’t know if you saw the one against Mark Davis. Once again, another guy that I have a great relationship with. He’s one of these guys who’s always been phenomenal. Even as a tag team in Aussie Open, he’s always been phenomenal. Now he’s a singles guy and actually found what makes him unique. I think AEW historically hasn’t done well by its heavyweight class. I think, honestly, Mark Davis could be the guy that breaks that mold. He could be an amazing world champion if given the tools and the necessary story to get there,” Ospreay said. [H/T: Fightful]

Currently, Tony Khan has been building Mark Davis as a monstrous heel in All Elite Wrestling. In a short time, Davis has competed against names like Jack Perry, Hangman Adam Page, and Brody King in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
