“We are looking at about 100,000 exports, total Nissan exports from India, and we’re looking at 100,000 domestic volumes. I think this (2026) is the year when we are beginning to balance our volume. It’s a matter of portfolio also in India.

” We’ve grown from one car, and by the end of this financial year, we’ll be at four cars. This is automatically going to get balanced,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa told PTI at the global premiere of the company’s mid-size SUV, Tekton, here.
He, however, said that as the company keeps adding vehicles to the portfolio, this number will keep changing.
Stating that with the 50: 50 target of domestic and export sales is the start of balancing volume, he said, “when you cater to the regulatory standards in India – BS 6.2, Bharat NCAP — and then you have the features that the customers are looking for, the package becomes very wholesome. The minute the package becomes very wholesome, it automatically opens the door for us to multiple markets.”
The company reported wholesale sales of 5,340 units in exports and 3006 units in the domestic market in the previous month.Vatsa said that having vehicles like Magnite and Tekton with right and left hand drives helps cater to both the markets — left and right hand drive– and added that “so there you have a domestic (right hand drive) market, and you also start taking the vehicle out to different parts of the world.”

“On the Tekton, we have a left-hand drive and a right-hand drive, which is under test at the moment. (So), it’s India for India and India for the world. Both are getting catered under our One Car, One World philosophy.
Launched at a price ranging between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.59 lakh, the all-new premier C-SUV, Tekton, comes in 11 variants and is already available for bookings with deliveries set to begin from July 20, the company announced.
The launch follows the announcement of 700 million Euro investment programme for India by the Alliance (Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi) partners, under which Nissan plans to introduce new products while increasing localisation and exports.
Nissan India also announced roping in Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as its new brand ambassador for the model and the company.
He said that Nissan India has grown from a one-car model company in India to three car models in a one-and-a-half-year period with the launch of Tekton, with one more to follow within this fiscal.
Besides Tekton, Nissan India also manufactures and sells its MPV Gravite and compact SUV Magnite.
Vatsa said that of the three new car models that the company had announced to launch in the 12-month period, two (Magnite and Tekton) are already out and the third one is just around the corner.
“In fact, we’ve already started testing the third model,” he said.
“So this (Tekton) is a very important car for us. We are taking it across the domestic market to all the C-SUV customers in India, and we are going to be taking it to almost 40-plus countries across the world,” he said.
Vatsa said so far the industry volumes are strong, and there is momentum in the industry across various different segments, adding, “We hope that this continues.”
“Of course, we don’t have a crystal ball. You know what is happening geopolitically and economically. Forex, raw material and energy prices are getting impacted. We don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. But we are looking at the situation; we’re keeping strong momentum in our operations, and continuing to cater to the consumers in India and overseas,” he stated.
On the supply chain situation, Vatsa said the uncertainty is very much there, and we don’t know how things are moving or changing.
“So far, we’ve been able to contain the situation, and we’ve been able to cater to both the domestic and the export markets. Of course, there are some disruptions when you’re looking at international shipping, but that has also been managed very effectively till now. Let’s see how the situation evolves in the future. But so far, we’ve been able to make sure that our numbers are not getting impacted,” he added.
