A 61-year-old star has answered Trick Williams’ SummerSlam challenge. The current United States champion is making waves on SmackDown since arriving on the main roster earlier this year.

Since then, he has won the US title at WrestleMania 42 and remains popular among the fans. While he has a number of challengers waiting to take his title on the blue brand, Williams has his eyes set on a bigger match.

He recently laid out a challenge to his mentor, Booker T, calling him out for a match at SummerSlam 2027. The former NXT champion talked about Booker T facing The Rock in the main event of SummerSlam in 2001 and said he wants to recreate history with two Black men main-eventing the Biggest Party of the Summer again.

Booker T saw the clip on his Hall of Fame podcast and responded to the Anointed One’s challenge. The former World Champion said he won’t rule out returning to the ring one more time to face Trick Williams.

“I never say never. I’m never gonna close the book on any chapter. If I can will myself to do it, I will do it. If the body’s telling me, ‘Go out here and get this done, one last time,’ I’ll go out there,” he said.

Booker T said the timeline of 2027 gives him time to assess things and prepare in the gym, saying he would give it serious thought.

“He gave me a time period of ’27 that gives me time to figure out, you know, what this year is going to look like for Booker T. Can I really get in the gym and hang and bang? Can I will myself to get in the gym and make it happen, and I think I can. So we’ll see how that plays out. You know what I mean? I’m serious. I’m serious,” he added.

Trick Williams has a new challenger on SmackDown

Last week on SmackDown, Trick Williams faced Carmelo Hayes in a non-title match. Both men put on an action-packed encounter, and toward the end, Hayes appeared to be in control.

He lined up for a Melo Don’t Miss but was caught by a returning Baron Corbin. Corbin slammed Melo to the canvas before turning his attention to the champion.

He laid out Trick Williams with an End of Days and then lifted the US championship, making his intentions very clear.
