Manchester United great Paul Scholes has claimed Marcus Rashford is the best English forward in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, snubbing Harry Kane. He has claimed that Rashford is the only English forward who can produce moments of magic.
England have endured a decent FIFA World Cup campaign so far, having won two of their group-stage fixtures while drawing another. They won 4-2 against Croatia and 2-0 against Panama while drawing 0-0 against Ghana.
Thanks for the submission!
Harry Kane has scored three goals in the tournament so far, while Jude Bellingham has scored twice. Marcus Rashford has found the back of the net once, which came in the Three Lions’ 4-2 win against Croatia.
Paul Scholes has claimed that England have match-winners in the team like Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. However, he believes only Marcus Rashford has the wow-factor in him like French forwards. He said, as quoted by The Good, The Bad and The Football:
“I think they have got match-winners in the team. You are thinking of Kanes and Bellinghams who scored last night. I think with Marcus, he is our closest thing to them French forwards. He is the one who can do something where you think ‘wow!’.”
Marcus Rashford has only started one game for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while coming on from the bench in two games. The 28-year-old faces an uncertain future at club level with Barcelona opting against the option to sign him for just €30 million.
The Manchester United attacker spent the last season on loan at Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals and produced 14 assists in 49 games. He has been capped 75 times by England till date and has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists.
Gary Lineker gives honest reaction to Harry Kane breaking his FIFA World Cup record
Gary Lineker has opened up on Harry Kane breaking his long-standing record for England in the FIFA World Cup. Lineker held the record of being the highest-scoring English player in the FIFA World Cup for 36 years.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona striker scored 10 goals for the Three Lions in the 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cup campaigns. Harry Kane has now finally broken the record with his strike in England’s 2-0 win against Panama. While reacting to Kane breaking his record, Lineker said:
“I’m really pleased that Harry’s beaten the record. I think, to be honest, it was a record that I knew wouldn’t last because, particularly with the changes in the World Cup now, it’s bigger. But I think Harry would have beaten it anyway, regardless. And actually, it’s quite good for me, because every time he gets close, it’s always brought up, there’s a graphic, and I’m up there, and it reminds people that I used to play football, because, you know, a certain generation don’t know that.”
Harry Kane has been an absolute talisman for England over the years and now has 82 goals in 117 games for the Three Lions. He has 11 goals in the World Cup so far, having represented England in three tournaments.
