In VV: Ultimatum, the Hollow Faction has a lengthy progression path that takes you through multiple transformations. A Hollow’s progression is primarily focused on becoming a Vastocar and achieving Resurreccion. The Faction is considered to be the hard mode of the experience because of the amount of effort and challenging combat required to reach the endgame.
This guide outlines a Hollow’s progression in VV: Ultimatum, guiding you through the process of becoming a Vastocar with a powerful Resurreccion.
An overview of a Hollow’s progression in VV: Ultimatum

In broad strokes, a Hollow’s progression path has two major milestones: becoming a Vastocar and attaining Resurreccion. Becoming a Vastocar involves undergoing multiple transformations by completing certain objectives.
Throughout the process, your avatar will have a mask on their face, which can be removed at any time. However, it is strongly advised not to remove your mask until you reach the Vasto Lorde state. If you remove the mask prematurely, you will be locked out of Hollow Trait slots and advanced progression states.
For Resurreccion, you can meditate and clear on a special boss battle in the Inner World. This is a challenging fight, so it is recommended to be at a high level when tackling it.
This guide explores which Faction is the best in VV: Ultimatum.
Becoming a Vastocar
Listed below are instructions on how to become a Vastocar when starting as a basic Hollow:
- As a basic Hollow, defeat and consume other Hollows until your avatar transforms into a Menos. This will grant you the “Primal Urges Part 1” quest.
- Kill eight Hollows and destroy 60 objects to clear “Primal Urges Part 1” and transform into an Adjuchas. This starts the “Primal Urges Part 2” quest.
- Gain 70 Points to clear the “Primal Urges Part 2” quest. For this, defeat Hollow NPCs or other Quincy and Shinigami players in PvP combat. This will transform you into a Vasto Lorde.
- As a Vasto Lorde, you can press L on the keyboard, L2 + D-Pad Down on the PlayStation, and LT + D-Pad Down on the Xbox to remove your mask. This will transform you into a Vastocar.
A few things to note about the Menos, Adjuchas, and Vasto Lorde states are listed below:
- As a Menos, you will have access to two Hollow Traits. You can get Hollow Traits by consuming Hollow NPCs.
- Adjuchas gain an additional Hollow Trait slot, along with a Cero and a Roar move.
- As a Vasto Lorde, you have access to all four Hollow Trait slots, but these slots will be locked once you transform into a Vastocar. Ensure you have the Traits you desire in the four slots before you transform for the final time.
- The Vastocar evolution resets your stats, but also gives you access to your Vastocar Weapon. This state loses the Cero and Roar moves; you can unlock Cero through the Kido skill tree.
Once you become a Vastocar, you can move onto attaining your Resurreccion.

Attaining Resurreccion
Resurreccion is the Faction-specific ability available to Vastocars. Attaining it involves meditating to reach the Inner World, where you can defeat a boss to unlock the ability.
The ability to meditate unlocks at level 25, but reaching the Vastocar-specific Inner World requires you to have the required amount of Meditation XP. You can earn Meditation XP by hitting enemies in the normal world. So, continue playing normally and meditating intermittently until you can enter the Inner World successfully.
Once you enter the Inner World, you will be given the “Clearing the Fog” quest. As part of this quest, follow the red eyes in the Inner World until it teleports you away. Repeat this process until you run into a spirit, which will prompt you into a three-phase boss battle.
This boss battle is a mirror match against the spirit, which uses moves that were available to you in your Hollow, Menos, and Adjuchas states. These states each represent one phase of the fight, and depleting the spirit’s HP bar in all three phases will grant you the ability to use Resurreccion.
The Resurreccion you receive after the boss battle will be randomized, but you will be able to reroll it using Ability Rerolls. Currently, the following Resurreccion abilities are available to Vastocars:
- Legendary (1% drop rate): Praying Mantis, Los Lobos
- Rare (9% drop rate): Shark, Fury
- Uncommon (30% drop rate): Electro, Luminosity
- Common (60% drop rate): Frozen Haze
Ability Rerolls are available through quests, chest openings, code redemptions, and Daily Rewards.
