BYD and Parkopedia introduced the new ParkPay, an in-car service that takes the hassle out of finding and paying for parking. It will soon offer new features, including EV charging.
BYD simplifies public EV charging with ParkPay
BYD is teaming up with Parkopedia to launch the new in-car parking service in Europe, starting in 2027.
Using Parkopedia’s parking data and payment service, BYD drivers will be able to find the closest parking spots, see how much they cost, and check whether they’re currently available. The service is built on Android OS (AAOS) with Google built in.
The system alerts drivers in covered areas with a message on the infotainment screen, letting them know they can pay for parking via the ParkPay service.
By simply clicking the notification, drivers can initiate and pay for the parking session. BYD said the services will be integrated into its mobility app
BYD’s electric vehicles will also get RingGo parking integrations in the UK and EasyPark parking payment availability in Europe to expand coverage.
While the service will initially offer parking, BYD plans to add new features, including EV charging, toll payments, and parking reservations.
The app will come pre-installed in new BYD vehicles, including the Denza Z9 GT and BYD Atto 3 Evo, beginning in early 2027. Older BYD models will receive the service via over-the-air (OTA) updates
“BYD is committed to bringing the finest technologies accessible to as many people as possible, and with our DENZA brand, FLASH Charging and 2nd Generation Blade Battery will remove barriers to electric-vehicle adoption,” BYD’s executive vice president, Stella Li, said.
After launching the Denza Z9 GT in Europe in April, Li said the luxury EV was “the perfect choice to introduce the principle of ‘Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3’ to the world, as we start our global rollout of FLASH Charging in Europe.”
With up to 1,500 kW of charging power, EVs equipped with BYD’s new Blade Battery and Flash Charging tech can recharge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. For a full recharge (10% to 97%), it takes 9 minutes. Even at temperatures as low as -30°C, it takes only 3 minutes longer.
The Denza Z9 GT is available to order in Europe with pure electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, starting at €115,000 ($134,500), including VAT (for the EV version).
Powered by a 122.49 kWh battery and three electric motors, BYD’s luxury electric shooting brake has a WLTP driving range of 599 km (372 miles) and a combined output of 1,140 hp (850 kW).
