CISF returns Rs 22.8 lakh worth lost items in 6 months, reunites 69 missing children in Delhi Metro

NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which guards Delhi Metro stations across the capital, has in the past six months recovered and returned lost currency and bank documents worth Rs 22.8 lakh, 80 gms of loose gold and other gold and silver ornaments, 32 laptops, 68 mobile phones and 9 valuable personal watches.Sharing this data, a CISF spokesperson on Friday said that the force also rescued and successfully reunited 69 missing or runaway children with their families between January and June this year, working in close coordination with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the child helpline, .In the same six-month period, CISF’s quick-response teams and station staff extended immediate and tactical assistance to 152 women passengers in distress, ensuring safe passage and a secure environment for women commuting at all hours of the day.Apart from money worth Rs 22.8 lakh, CISF also recovered and returned foreign currency to international tourists, including 80 British points, 6,000 Nepalese rupees, 130 Singapore dollars and 1.15 crore Indonesian rupiah.“The Delhi Metro is a highly dynamic environment where security cannot be compromised, yet service with a human face remains our core philosophy. Our jawans stand on their feet for long, grueling hours to ensure that every commuter returns home safely. Whether we are scanning a bag for threats, protecting a lost child, or returning a passenger’s hard-earned money, our commitment to ‘protection and security’ remains absolute,” said the CISF spokesperson. The CISF DMRC unit trained elite security forces in urban transit security in the last six months. As many as 389 external security personnel — belonging to the Indian Army, CRPF, ITBP, UP Special Security Force, Railway Protection Force and International Bureau of Security Academies were trained in advanced physical frisking and high-tech gadget-handling techniques.
