The facility, which is a Global Manufacturing Center (GMC) for Solestra, will function as an exclusive production cell for Solestra, with dedicated machines, workforce and manufacturing space aligned to the company’s programmes and quality standards, the companies said in a statement on Tuesday. The GMC model is designed to operate as an extension of Solestra’s own manufacturing operations, and will help the company with additional capacity and cost competitiveness.
While the companies did not disclose the financial value of the agreement, Jeh Aerospace told ET that the significance lies in the long-term manufacturing structure rather than the contract value itself.
The partnership comes as global aerospace manufacturers increasingly look to diversify supply chains and build additional manufacturing capacity outside traditional production hubs.
“The GMC expands our ability to support New Product Introduction (NPI), increase capacity, speed industrialization, and deliver competitive solutions while maintaining a single point of accountability,” Joe DeMartino, CEO of Solestra Group. “
Jeh Aerospace founder and CEO Vishal Sanghavi said the model draws from the founders’ experience of establishing and operating joint ventures in India for global aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
“We took what worked, engineered out what didn’t, and built the first model of its kind in India. Every benefit of an India JV, without the burden of one,” Sanghavi said.
The Solestra GMC will add high-precision mechanical systems manufacturing to Jeh Aerospace’s existing aero-engine and aerostructure capabilities. Both companies hold AS9100D aerospace quality certification.
The company said it is currently undertaking a major expansion and expects its second manufacturing facility to come online this year, taking its total manufacturing footprint beyond 250,000 sq ft.
The companies did not disclose the specific aerospace OEMs or platforms that would ultimately be served through the facility, stating only that the components being manufactured are intended for aero-engine and aircraft systems applications.
