Following the Boston Celtics‘ first-round loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, star Jaylen Brown has been the subject of trade speculation. According to rumors, Brown could be shipped to a different team as the Celtics have been linked to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Amid the trade talks, former NBA player Jay Williams claimed on Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s “Get Up” that Brown has moved on from the Celtics. Williams said that the 2024 Finals MVP has unfollowed the team that drafted him on social media.

“Jaylen Brown has already also unfollowed the Boston Celtics on all his social media. So there’s a lot of stuff going on, guys,” Williams said.

However, Williams’ claims about Brown’s social media activity are not true. The Celtics star is still following the team on Instagram.

Despite the trade rumors, Brown has remained focused on getting better for Boston next season.

Gary Washburn Thinks the Celtics Will Not Trade Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat are the two teams linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to most reports, the Heat have the edge in trading for the famed star. However, the Celtics also have a chance, but it needs to involve a third team to make a trade possible.

If it comes down to it, the Celtics would send Jaylen Brown to the third team because of this. However, it’s possible that the team isn’t interested in selling Brown away, according to Gary Washburn of NBC Sports Boston on Tuesday.

“I do think Miami has the edge on this, but I do think Boston is kinda sniffing around,” Washburn said. “What is exactly Milwaukee looking for? Who is the third team involved? Because it’s gonna have to be a third team involved.

“There’s a lot of questions here that need to be solved in the next week. I do think something is gonna happen by the draft. But I don’t think the chances are that he’s coming to Boston. And I don’t think the Celtics are shopping Jaylen Brown in this deal. I think they’re trying to figure out how to get him without Jaylen.”

While the Celtics remain interested in acquiring the two-time MVP, the team does not want to make a move that would lead them to part ways with Brown. The star forward is one of the most important players on the team, helping them win the championship in 2024.

Additionally, Brown finished the best season of his career as the Celtics’ No. 1 option. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 47.7% shooting.
