PhonePe launches AI-powered SmartPages to help merchants go online in 10 minutes

PhonePe on Wednesday launched SmartPages, an AI-powered payment page creator integrated into its Payment Gateway (PG) platform, enabling merchants to create and deploy payment-ready webpages in under 10 minutes without coding or design expertise.

The company said SmartPages is the first such offering in India’s payment gateway ecosystem and is designed to help businesses overcome common hurdles such as website development costs, technical complexity and content creation.

The tool allows merchants to describe their products or services in a few sentences, including in regional languages, after which artificial intelligence automatically generates product descriptions, selects relevant customer information fields and creates a mobile-optimised payment page.

According to PhonePe, SmartPages acts as both a copywriter and designer, reducing the time required to launch a payment page from days or weeks to a matter of minutes.

“SmartPages directly addresses two of the most common challenges faced by small and independent sellers—the lack of technical resources to build a website, and the difficulty of crafting marketing copy,” said Deep Agrawal, Vice President and Head of Payments at PhonePe. “While a full website build can take weeks and manual no-code solutions take hours, SmartPages compresses this setup to under 10 minutes by automating the heavy lifting.”

The platform also supports page creation in vernacular languages, allowing local and regional businesses to build customised payment pages for their target customers. All pages are automatically optimised for both mobile and desktop devices.

Built directly into the PhonePe Payment Gateway dashboard, SmartPages offers access to the company’s payment processing infrastructure, multiple payment modes and real-time analytics without requiring additional integrations.PhonePe said it plans to enhance the product further by introducing advanced AI capabilities that can analyse a merchant’s social media presence and previous campaigns to generate payment pages aligned with the brand’s tone and identity.

PhonePe, which launched its digital payments app in 2016, said it had more than 70 crore registered users and over 5 crore merchant partners on its network as of April 2026.
