The atmosphere in New York will be electric on Monday as former Knicks player Jeremy Lin is expected to visit Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals. The New York Post first reported Lin’s return on Saturday.
The former New York player revealed to Stefan Bondy of the NY Post that he plans to attend an orange and blue game for the first time as a spectator.

“I will be going back as a spectator for the first time ever,” he said. “After leaving the Knicks, I did play against the Knicks multiple times, but I have never been back to The Garden as a spectator. This will be my first time in 14 years back at The Garden, not as an opposing player. I can’t wait. I really genuinely can’t wait for Game 3 and 4.”

Jeremy Lin has a fabled underdog story that saw him turn into a superstar in New York overnight. The former orange and blue player took the world by storm in the 2011-12 season, the Linsanity era. Lin led the Knicks to a seven-game winning streak with most of the starters injured.
In his interview with the New York Post, he revealed the reason behind not attending New York’s games as a fan for over a decade despite the franchise’s consistent efforts to bring him back to the Garden.
“The Knicks have been really adamant and have been consistent about trying to get me to go back to a game. I’ve always had the desire. It’s not that I didn’t want to,” he said.
“It’s just that I was still playing and I was still an active player. My seasons that I was playing were always ending after the Knick season. And so now, this is my first season being retired. I have this time and the ability to actually show up. So I can’t wait.”
Lin was a fourth-option point guard on the team, but his rise to stardom during the Linsanity era gave fans some unforgettable memories. Even though he did not win a ring in New York, fans remember him as one of the most entertaining players they have watched in an orange and blue jersey.
