Team India will take on Afghanistan in a one-off Test match at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur from June 6 to June 10. This will only be the second Test match to be played between the two nations. India beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs when the teams clashed for the first time in Bengaluru in June 2018.
Shubman Gill will captain the Indian team in the one-off Test against Afghanistan. Spin bowling all-rounders Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey as well as pacer Gurnoor Brar have earned maiden call-ups to the Indian side for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan in Mullanpur.
Suthar played five matches for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026, claiming two wickets at an economy rate of 11.75. Left-arm spinner Dubey claimed eight wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in eight matches at an economy rate of 10.36. Pacer Brar is part of the GT franchise, but did not play any match in IPL 2026.
Following the conclusion of the Test match, India and Afghanistan will face off in a three-match one-day series. The ODIs will be played in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai on June 13, June 17 and June 20 respectively. While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were originally named in the squad, there are concerns over their fitness. As per reports, Kohli has already been ruled out.
Prince Yadav, Brar and Dubey are the new faces in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan. Fast bowler Prince was among the few positives for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in an otherwise disappointing IPL season. He bowled will impressive speed, claiming 16 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 28.68 and an economy rate of 8.82.
