Brokk brings Ecovolve EL500 electric mini loader to the US

Brokk adds electric loader for North America

Designed to work in tight, noise-sensitive environments while carrying up to 500 kg (~1,100 lbs.) for a full shift, the Ecovolve EL500 is a uniquely competent and capable electric equipment option that can make it through a conventional man door – and Brokk is bringing it to America.

As more demolition, renovation, and retrofit work moves indoors, contractors are increasingly looking for compact equipment options that can operate safely in confined spaces without filling the job site with diesel exhaust or shaking everything off the walls. The Ecovolve EL500 is designed specifically for that growing niche, and Brokk is bringing it to North American job sites where it will combine zero-emission operation, vibration-free running, and (at just 32″ wide) compact dimensions that let it go just about anywhere your crew can.

To ensure it can handle whatever task it finds when it gets there, the EL500 offers a long list of interchangeable attachments that includes a bucket, hydraulic breaker, floor scraper, vacuum lift, loading bucket, and pallet fork, to name a few.

    Lots of options

The EL500 ships with with a 6 kW (~8 hp) synchronous electric motor that develops a pushing force of over 885 lb-ft, and packs all that power into a chassis just 32″ wide with a 46″ turning radius. A 48V, 9.6 kWh AGM battery sits low in the chassis for improved stability, and is “smartly managed” by the on-board ECU.

The features list doesn’t stop there, though. Ecovolve has built in a lot of safety features like an operator presence system, automatic slow down, audible and visual warnings lamps, a protective anti-collision platform, and automatic self-leveling. A spring-loaded ride-on platform, hip cushion, electric steering, and intuitive control layout serve operator comfort, while anti-scuff/anti-mark tires prevent the EL500 from wrecking the floors during renovation projects.

No word on pricing, but that’s fairly typical in the equipment space. Check with your local Brokk/Ecovolve dealer to see how much they love you/their inventory.

    Electrek’s Take

Perhaps best typified by the work done by a Bobcat E10e at St. Jerome’s cathedral that we covered back in 2024, more and more battery-powered machines are being developed to do work in that simply can’t be filled by diesel or LPG. Heck, even the water vapor from hydrogen fuel cells or combustion could present a problem in certain historic spaces!

    Electric, obviously, is the way.
