The City of Long Beach, California, is adding six more off-grid solar EV chargers from Beam Global as it continues electrifying its vehicle fleet.
San Diego-based Beam Global (Nasdaq: BEEM) said the new deployment includes four of its EV ARC solar- and battery-storage-powered charging systems for the City of Long Beach’s fleet operations, and two more at Long Beach Airport for fleet charging.
Long Beach said it’s growing its EV charging network to help lower costs, support fleet electrification, and cut vehicle emissions. Using off-grid chargers also lets the city add charging capacity without increasing demand on existing electrical infrastructure.
The company claims that the EV ARC is the “only rapidly deployed, 100% renewable, transportable but permanent EV charging solution.”
The EV ARC units generate and store electricity onsite, so they don’t need to be connected to the grid to charge EVs. It can power up to six 5.76 kW Level 2 EV chargers that can charge simultaneously. It can power up to 265 electrical miles daily and reach up to 12 parking spaces. The user can choose which Level 2 charger brand they want to use.
Beam says the systems can also be moved and redeployed if charging needs change over time.
That flexibility is part of the appeal for cities looking to expand EV charging without dealing with long construction timelines, trenching, or electrical upgrades.
Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley said fleet operators who switch to EVs can reduce fuel and maintenance costs while also cutting emissions and downtime.

The latest deployment expands Beam Global’s footprint in municipal fleet operations in California, where cities and airports are continuing to invest in EV infrastructure for public fleets.
