Rajasthan Royals (RR) star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi was left upset with himself on the way back to the dugout after being dismissed for 96 runs off 47 deliveries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 2 match. This marks the third time in four matches that the young sensation was dismissed in the nineties and missed out on a well-deserved hundred.

After RR opted to bat first in Mullanpur, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had to employ a different approach against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Reduced to 9-2 in the second over, the youngster showcased a fine blend of caution and aggression to register his slowest IPL fifty so far, but still reached the milestone off 31 deliveries.

Although wickets kept falling around him, Suryavanshi held his end to keep the scoreboard ticking. He roared into the nineties with a set of sixes against Washington Sundar in the 17th over, and was on course for his hundred. However, just like recent matches against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), it was not meant to be.

In a dismissal that was quite similar to his last outing, the southpaw tried to clear the third-man fielder while trying to dispatch a bouncer. He could only find height, and not distance, as Prasidh Krishna claimed the catch. The youngster was visibly unhappy with the dismissal, and was seen muttering to himself while making animated gestures all the way through to the walk back to the dugout. Have a look at the dismissal right here:

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s stunning knock included eight fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 204.26, as he stretched his lead at the top of the run-scoring chart.

RR finish with 214-6 after Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s effort and Donovan Ferreira’s late cameo

RR have handed a massive challenge for GT after posting a massive 214 on the board in a knockout clash. Their score read 172-6 in the18th over after Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dismissal. GT’s hopes of restricting the opposition to a total of around 200 were quashed as Ferreira slammed an unbeaten 38 off just 11 deliveries.

The explosive South African batter struck four sixes off the final over against Rashid Khan to end the innings on a high for his side.
