The Geely Xingyuan, sold overseas as the EX2, was the top-selling car in China last year. While it was yet again the most popular EV in April, Geely launched an upgraded model offering more range at the same low price.

Starting at about $10,000 (68,800 yuan), Geely’s compact electric hatch was the best-selling new energy vehicle in China in 2025, with over 465,000 units sold.

According to the most recent sales data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the Xingyuan was again the top-selling car in April, beating the Xiaomi SU7 and the Tesla Model Y.

With the competition heating up, Geely launched the upgraded model on Thursday with improvements across the board.

The new EV is available in six different variants with prices ranging from 64,800 yuan ($9,500) to 94,800 yuan ($14,000).

For a limited time, Geely is offering the new Xingyuan EV for as little as 61,800 yuan ($9,100). All variants feature a promotional price, offering between 300 yuan and 500 yuan off the official listed price.

Both LFP battery packs supplied by CATL have been upgraded. The entry-level battery increased from 30.12 kWh to 35 kWh, offering a CLTC driving range of up to 410 km (254 miles). Meanwhile, the 40.16 kWh battery increased to 45 kWh, delivering up to 480 km (298 miles) of driving range.

To give you a better idea, the outgoing Geely Xingyuan only offered a CLTC driving range of up to 410 km (254 miles).

With a peak charging rate of 1.66C, the vehicle’s battery can fast charge from 30% to 80% in just under 20 minutes.

While it looks about the same as the previous model, the new Xingyuan features added cameras on the fenders, as you can see, to support new automated driving features, including remote parking and Sentry Mode.

The interior is more high-tech than you’d expect from a $10,000 entry-level car. It features an 8.8″ driver cluster and a 14.6″ central infotainment screen running Geely’s Galaxy Flyme 2.0 smart cockpit system and AI companion.

Measuring 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, and 1,570 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, the Xingyuan is slightly bigger than the BYD Seagull EV, its low-cost rival that also received an upgrade earlier this month.

Geely announced plans to sell the EX2 in markets across five continents in 2026, including Europe, the UK, and Southeast Asia.
