The season finale mainly revolved around Agnes and Daisy trying to find ways to save Rebecka from the capital punishment. Aunt Lydia and Aunt Vidala secretly help protect her by convincing Mrs Grove to take the blame for the murder. She does that willingly and is later executed.
At the same time, Becka is heavily sedated and forced to marry Garth. Right before the wedding, she shares a heartbreaking kiss with Agnes. The finale also reveals the truth about Agnes’ true lineage, which she learns from Diasy during the final scene of The Testaments season 1.
The Testaments season 1 ending explained: Hannah reveal changes everything for Agnes

After The Eyes drag away Becka, Agnes realizes too late that trusting Gilead’s system was a terrible mistake. She believed Becka would receive medical help after killing Dr Grove during her breakdown. Instead, Becka ends up restrained inside a prison cell, barely responsive and singing softly to herself.
Early in The Testaments season 1’s finale, Aunt Lydia visits Becka and quickly understands how serious the situation really is. Commander Judd reveals that Dr Grove was already set to face execution for abusing girls, including Agnes, but insists Becka still deserves punishment. Her choices are horrifyingly simple: become a Handmaid or end up on the Wall.
Judd also coldly warns Lydia that they are no longer on the same team. Back in school, Agnes openly challenges Aunt Vidala and questions why nobody is protecting Becka after everything she has suffered. Gilead’s usual speeches about faith and obedience no longer comfort her.
The cracks inside Agnes had finally started showing throughout The Testaments season 1, and the finale completely tears them open. Meanwhile, Daisy becomes consumed by guilt after exposing Dr Grove’s crimes in the first place.

She pushes Garth and Mayday to help Becka escape punishment, but Mayday refuses risking larger operations for one girl. Angry and frustrated, Daisy secretly leaves Gilead and speaks with June Osborne, who plans to extract her immediately.
However, Daisy refuses to leave now, deciding to stand with the girls instead. During their conversation, Daisy tells June about Agnes and describes her as one of the bravest people she has ever known. That single detail changes the entire scene. June realizes that Agnes is actually Hannah, the daughter stolen from her years earlier.
Back in Gilead, Becka is freed from imprisonment upon Agnes’ request, Commander Weston brings her back home under a 24 hour survellience before being officially questioned on the previous night’s events.
Aunt Lydia finally begins stepping outside the system she once defended. Alongside Aunt Vidala, she creates a false version of Dr Grove’s death to protect Becka. They explain to Becka that Mrs Grove killed her husband while Becka only discovered the aftermath. Mrs Grove agrees to take this fall immediately, knowing exactly what it will cost her.

On the other hand, Agnes is informed by her father that Weston has called off the engagement. Though he blames the scandal around Becka, Agnes understands the real reason. After revealing that Dr Grove abused her, too, she is now viewed differently by Gilead’s men. Even worse, Paula drunkenly admits that Gilead once wanted Agnes murdered as revenge against June.
That confession destroys her completely. Later, during the night, Agnes sneaks out of the house to look for Garth. Upon meeting him, Agnes asks Garth to marry Becka, so she will not become a social outcast or Handmaid. He eventually agrees. On the same day Mrs Grove walks toward execution, Becka walks toward her forced wedding, heavily medicated and barely aware of what is happening around her.
Before the ceremony, though, The Testaments season 1 finale delivers its most sensitive scene. Agnes comforts Becka privately, and the two finally share a heartbreaking kiss after episodes of unspoken feelings between them. After the wedding, Garth locks Becka inside their new home.

The finale saves its biggest revelation for Agnes. After the wedding, Daisy speaks to Agnes and reveals the latter’s true identity. Before mentioning that Agnes’ real name may be Hannah, Daisy tells her about her birthmother, June Osborne. When Agnes claims that she is a terrorist, Daisy implies to her that June was never the terrorist Gilead described.
Later, Agnes takes out an old drawing from her hidden stash, signed with the name Hannah. This confirms that she remembers more of her past than anyone realized. That moment changes everything for Agnes in The Testaments season 1 finale.
Agnes returns to school afterwards, where Aunt Lydia admits the situation is highly unusual. A Green rarely comes back after a broken engagement inside Gilead. Agnes openly tells Lydia that she knows June Osborne is her mother, prompting Lydia to quietly remind her that June never stopped fighting for her daughter’s future.
On the other hand, Daisy sends June a note promising to build an army of girls capable of bringing Gilead down. Daisy says in her narration:
“Nothing is more powerful than a teenage girl.”
The finale then closes with Agnes, Daisy and Shunammite walking through the school halls together, their hands tightly linked as they move forward side by side.
