During a recent Weverse Live broadcast alongside fellow BTS members j-hope, V and Jimin, RM aka Kim Namjoon shared a story from his military service days. The rapper on the Weverse live on May 20, 2026 recalled an incident from his time at the Nonsan Training Center, involving trainees using his military PX card.
RM explained that he had handed over his card to trainees from a neighboring platoon so they could purchase snacks from the military convenience store. However, the situation escalated when the trainees bought a large number of additional items, including skincare products like Snail serum, daily necessities and health supplements intended for their families.
“They spent like 660,000 KRW, buying stuff like snail serum and daily essentials. That is why the POS machine broke down for the first time in Nonsan Training Center’s history,” explained the rapper.
He then recalled being called in by the company commander and questioned about the unusually large transaction. He said,
“The company commander called me over and asked, ‘What on earth did you do?’ So I replied, ‘I told them to buy some snacks for the kids,’ but they ended up buying all sorts of health supplements to send to their mothers, and the receipt had over 100 items.”
The BTS leader added that the trainees later apologized to him.
“So, they came to me and bowed their heads said, ‘I’m sorry, hyung,’ so I said, ‘No, it’s okay. But isn’t snail cream a bit much?'” Kim added.
The anecdote amused the BTS members present during the livestream drawing laughter, but it also sparked widespread discussion online among fans. Following the broadcast, clips of RM recounting the incident quickly spread across social media platforms.
Fans vehemently criticized the trainees involved, arguing that they had gone beyond the limits of RM’s generosity. Many called the incident disrespectful despite the artist taking the story lightly during the livestream. One fan commented,
“This is taking advantage of his kindness. Lack of respect. No matter how much it doesn’t make a difference to him, doing this shows a lack of character and abuse of trust. I thought it was horrible.”
Several fans criticized the trainees involved, expressing shock over the scale of the purchases. Others questioned why personal and gift items for family were bought using someone else’s card.
The conversation continued online, with many fans viewing the incident as an example of trainees crossing the line with the BTS leader’s generosity. Several argued that the controversy was not centered on the money itself, but rather on boundaries, basic manners and respect.

The members noted that some songs had never been performed live before despite their popularity among fans.
