Bojangles Is Going Into EV Fast Charging

    • North Carolina-based fast food chain Bojangles installed its first DC fast charging station.
    • The iconic Southern food brand’s first stalls went online in Savannah, Georgia.
    • The company is planning to expand its network with a variety of Level 2 and DC fast chargers.

Charlotte’s Bojangles is getting into the EV charging game, with the fast food chain’s first DC fast charger going online this month in Savannah, Georgia.

With over 870 restaurants spread across 23 states, Bojangles has plenty of locations that could benefit from an EV top-up station, and the good news is that the company is planning to install multiple Level 2 AC chargers and DC fast chargers at various franchises in the United States.

“Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them,” said Richard Del Valle, Chief Information Officer at Bojangles. “With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel, and enjoy a true Bojangles experience. This is about more than charging vehicles; it’s about redefining the stop along the way.”

The chain’s first station in Savannah features a pair of XCharge C7 DC fast chargers offering a total of four ports—two CCS1 and two NACS. According to the charge manufacturer, the all-in-one stalls don’t need a separate cabinet and can output up to 400 kilowatts at a maximum of 500 amps, but according to the PlugShare listing, the dispensers at the Bojangles on 4401 Ogeechee Road are limited to 240 kW. On-site contactless card readers are available.

The quick-serve chain aims for an uptime of over 97% for its current and upcoming EV chargers. The company partnered with Energy and Environmental Design Services and XLR8 America to develop, install, and maintain its growing EV infrastructure.

Founded in 1977, Bojangles is a Carolina-born restaurant chain that’s known for its boldly seasoned hand-breaded chicken, scratch-made biscuits, and sweet tea. The brand started in Charlotte, but now has over 870 franchises in 23 states.

The North Carolina fast food chain is just the latest name going into the EV charging business. Starbucks, Chipotle, Costco, Sheetz, 7-Eleven, Taco Bell, and many others offer EV chargers at their locations, enabling drivers to forget about range anxiety or charging anxiety while they eat or shop.
