Francis Ngannou was one of the top performers on the first MVP MMA card. The former UFC heavyweight champion produced an incredible knockout and won his fight against Philipe Lins.

Ngannou was also handed a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus, the only fighter to get this from the event.

However, the former UFC heavyweight champion decided to hand this bonus over to his rival, Lins.

Ngannou explained why he did the same and claimed that Lins had been underestimated ahead of the fight, and the Brazilian was a great fighter.

It’s interesting to note the disparity in the reported payouts for the two fighters. While Ngannou pocketed $1.5 million from the fight, Lins was only given $100,000.

Effectively, Ngannou doubled Lins’ payout thanks to this incredible gesture. The Brazilian reacted to this great moment from Ngannou and thanked him on social media:

“Thank you Francis, was a honor fight you! Respect bro.”

Check out Philipe Lins’ comment below:

Ngannou already had another target on his mind after the fight. He called out former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but setting up that fight might be difficult given the contract situation between ‘Bones’ and the UFC.

The size differential between Philipe Lins and Francis Ngannou was always going to play a part in their fight. Ngannou also had the power advantage, and a brutal punch knocked Lins out cold.

While Lins, a former PFL and UFC star, couldn’t really do much in this fight, he thanked MVP for the chance.

The Brazilian posted a great message on Instagram, and was hopeful that another fight could be on the way:

“What I living the last two month was life time experience! What honor to have been a part of this! The result was not what me and my team expected but always keep my head up and move forward. Thank you MVP it was amazing these days with you guys, can’t wait for the next ones!”

Lins came into this fight riding a four-fight winning streak. Those wins came in the UFC, and he is also a winner of the PFL heavyweight tournament.
