Maruti Suzuki has started commercial production at the second plant of its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana from May 18. The new plant has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units. With this addition, the company’s total production capacity across all facilities has increased to 26.5 lakh units per year.

The company informed stock exchanges that the second plant adds to the first Kharkhoda plant, which started commercial production in February 2025 with the same annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units. The Kharkhoda facility now has a combined production capacity of 5 lakh units annually.

Maruti Suzuki said its production capacity is spread across four manufacturing locations. Gurugram has a capacity of 5 lakh units per year, Manesar has 9 lakh units, Hansalpur in Gujarat has 7.5 lakh units, and Kharkhoda now has 5 lakh units.

The company said the expansion is part of its previously announced plan to add 5 lakh units of production capacity during FY2026-27.

India’s largest car manufacturer currently manufactures the compact SUV Brezza and the mid-size SUV Victoris at the Kharkhoda facility.

The company said that once fully operational, the Kharkhoda facility will become one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing locations with the capacity to produce 10 lakh vehicles annually.

The foundation stone for the Kharkhoda facility was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022.
