Blink and Emobi are teaming up to make EV charging work more seamlessly across apps, networks, and vehicles.

Blink Charging announced that it’s teaming up with Emobi to connect Blink’s EV chargers into Emobi’s roaming and JustPlug digital infrastructure. The move is designed to let drivers access Blink chargers through automaker apps, fleet platforms, and other charging apps they already use.

The partnership also opens the door to more automated charging experiences, where drivers can simply plug in and charge without having to deal with separate authentication or payment steps.

Blink says it manages more than 56,000 networked EV charging ports across multifamily housing, workplaces, campuses, fleet depots, and public charging locations.

    Fewer apps, easier charging

One of the biggest frustrations for EV drivers is still the fragmented charging experience. Depending on where you charge, you often need different apps, accounts, and payment systems.

By integrating Blink’s chargers into Emobi’s roaming platform, drivers are expected to be able to use a wider range of apps and in-vehicle systems to access Blink chargers with a more consistent experience.

Emobi says its platform helps connect charging networks, automakers, fleets, and mobile apps into a single ecosystem.

The companies say the collaboration is also aimed at fleets. Emobi’s data normalization and standardization system is expected to simplify onboarding and reduce integration headaches for fleet operators that need access across multiple charging networks.

    Plug in and charge automatically

The partnership also gives Blink customers access to Emobi’s JustPlug technology.

JustPlug is designed to make charging work without swiping a card or opening an app. Drivers plug in, and authentication and payment happen automatically.

Emobi says the system can work across DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers without requiring hardware upgrades or firmware changes. The company says JustPlug also helps remove barriers to wider adoption of ISO-15118 Plug&Charge.

The collaboration starts with an initial one-year term.

“By bringing Blink into Emobi’s ecosystem, we’re giving drivers the flexibility to charge through the platforms they choose, while enabling a seamless and fully automated experience with JustPlug,” said Emobi CEO Lin Sun Fa.

Blink president and CEO Mike Battaglia said the partnership is part of the company’s broader strategy to improve charger access and make charging more user-friendly as EV adoption grows.

    Electrek’s Take

All too often, drivers pull up to a charger and discover they need to download yet another app, create another account, or set up another payment.

That’s why roaming partnerships like this matter. It’s so much better when drivers can just plug in, charge, and get on with their day instead of messing around with new logins and memberships.

If companies can make charging work across networks without the need for expensive hardware upgrades, that’s a meaningful step toward making public charging much more seamless.
