UFC veteran Matt Brown recently shared his thoughts on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano showdown and issued his preview.

Rousey and Carano are gearing up to throw down in a 145-pound MMA clash at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles this weekend. The fight will be a five-round affair, with both women using standard four-ounce MMA gloves.

The event will stream live on Netflix and will be promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). High-profile combat sports stars like Nate Diaz, Mike Perry, and Francis Ngannou will also be competing on this card.

While Rousey is coming off a first-round knockout loss against Amanda Nunes in December 2016, Carano is coming off a first-round knockout against Cris Cyborg in August 2009. Given Rousey’s resume and her activity timeline, many are backing ‘Rowdy’ to beat Carano this weekend. However, Brown sees ‘Conviction’ getting the better of Rousey.

In an episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer podcast, Brown explained how Carano could beat Rousey and said:

“I think it’s going to be an ugly fight for the most part. Here’s why I’m going to go with Gina Carano, I think Gina’s naturally a little bit bigger than Ronda… Lastly, Ronda is a lot more predictable. For one thing, she doesn’t go and shoot double legs. It’s going to be a judo-style takedown, which is a little bit more predictable… If Gina does some of the basic things, she should be able to mitigate that.

He added:

“With that said, it will probably be ugly as hell. Ugly as all hell. It’s going to be nothing to write home about. I’m going to go Carano, and plus, I’m a bigger fan of Carano, too, so maybe a little bit of bias there too.”

Ronda Rousey highlights the importance of upcoming Gina Carano fight

Ronda Rousey believes fans should spare no effort trying to attend her upcoming Gina Carano fight event and recently explained why.

In a face-to-face interview hosted by Ariel Helwani (via @jedigoodman on X), Rousey outlined the importance of her comeback fight and said:

“I would have killed to see Mike Tyson live and I would have killed to see Muhammad Ali live. I would have killed to see UFC 1 live, and I believe that this event is historic on that level. It’s going to change the landscape of the entire sport forever. It’s going to be the best fight of my and Gina’s lives… This is the most stacked card I’ve ever seen. This is the most I’ve seen anyone invest in one card.”
