As you explore the ocean in Subnautica 2, you’ll come across a signal for Blackbox Wander. Following it will lead you to an infected Angel Comb that grants you the Heat Tolerance adaptation. However, to get the upgrade, you’ll need to solve a puzzle while fending off sea creatures and managing your Oxygen levels.

But before that, you’ll need to find a way to gain access to the area. This guide will show you the location of the infected Angel Comb in Subnautica 2, along with all the necessary tools you’ll need for the task.

Follow the Blackbox Wander signal to 255 degrees North of your Lifepod. Keep swimming until you reach a giant orange coral with a tunnel underneath, blocked by an infection called Bloom Cankers. Your job is to purge them and free the juvenile Angel Comb, and to do that, you’ll need a Sonic Resonator.

Crafting the Sonic Resonator requires you to have its blueprint and a Fabricator in your base, along with the following materials:

  • Basic Battery x1
  • Titanium Ingot x2
  • Lead x2
  • Wiring Kit x1

Bloom Cankers are infection spores growing on the roots of an Angel Comb, preventing it from blooming. Your task is to destroy them using the Sonic Resonator. After gaining entry into the cave, you’ll find an infected juvenile Angel Comb. Look for glowing orbs across the roots and blast them using the Resonator.

There’ll be multiple hostile Bloom Parasites floating around who’ll attack you when approaching the Bloom Cankers. You can destroy them with the Sonic Resonator, but it’s better to focus on the task at hand. After curing the juvenile Angel Comb, follow the root leading 15 degrees North to reach the infected Angel Bloom guarded by a Marrowbreach infected by Bloom Parasites.

At this point, ignore the main Angle Comb as you need to cure another juvenile first. Keep following the root to find the next location near an underwater shipwreck. Find and destroy all four of the Bloom Cankers and return to the primary objective, which should already be marked at this point.

As mentioned, the Angel Comb is guarded by an infected Marrowbreach, who’ll start attacking you as you enter the area. Use the Sonic Resonator to remove the Bloom Parasites from its body and stun the fish for a duration. The parasites will possess the Marrowbreach once again, so use that time to break as many Bloom Cankers as possible.

Once you clear the infection, the Angel Comb will bloom, allowing you to get the Heat Tolerance adaptation. After getting the upgrade, you’ll be able to navigate water with significantly higher temperatures, which is necessary for in-game progression.
